Obituary of Christy C. Adams

Christy C. Adams ROCKLAND - Christy C Adams, 68, retired pharmacist, lost his tenacious battle with cancer on September 1, 2019, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Chris always loved nature and was a natural healer from a very early age when he would bring home injured wild animals and cure them. He has rehabilitated skunks, raccoons, crows, falcons, turtles, woodpeckers, owls, and many more. Chris had several owls living in his home and would take the owls to schools in the area to educate students and teachers all about owl behavior and habitats. He would often be seen around town with Cheeka (his first rescued owl) on his shoulder, or at several Harry Potter events dressed as a wizard with an owl in tow. The owls seemed to love him as much as he loved them. Chris was like a magnet to animals as well as people. People loved him as a pharmacist and they would call his home at all hours for advice on the medication they were prescribed. Chris didn’t realize the impact he had on people nor how he enriched other peoples’ lives. He was always there for others with complete selflessness, and has been described as a spiritual guide, especially to those in the recovery program. Chris had a passion for artifact hunting and metal detecting which became contagious to his family and friends as well. After spending a day with Chris on the hunt, you would be educated about terms such as pecking, grinding, flecking, hafting, notching and scoring, all the techniques that made a rock become a tool. He truly was an amateur archaeologist as well as a naturalist, and shared his wealth of knowledge with various organizations throughout town as a guest speaker. Chris is survived by an incredible caring community that have shown an outpouring of their love and support, along with an adoring family and friends who will try to fill this giant hole in their hearts with Chris’s unconditional love, as he would have hoped. Chris simply wanted to be remembered as The Birdman. Fly free Birdman, fly free. There will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date.
