Obituary of Sherman Stanley Damon

Sherman "Sherm" Stanley Damon, of Trenton, died peacefully at his home March 8, 2017, with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 30, 1947, to Waldo and Eleanor (Walls) Damon at Bar Harbor Hospital. Sherm grew up in Seal Harbor and graduated from Mount Desert High School in Northeast Harbor in 1965. He graduated from Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute with a certificate in Automotive Technology, and a certificate in Heavy Equipment Maintenance from Southern Maine Vocational Institute in South Portland. In 1970 he graduated from the Maine State Police training camp in Augusta. Sherm was the ultimate "car guy". He loved to drive cars, trucks, heavy equipment. It did not matter as long as he was behind the wheel and if it was fast - even better. His two favorites were his "63 Ford" Galaxy and his 1967 Chevelle. In addition to his parents, Sherm was also predeceased by an infant son, Joseph. Sherm is survived by his loving wife, of thirty-five years, Paula, and his four children, Tracy Willis and husband Jim; Todd Damon, Daniel Damon and partner, Ashley York, Deidra Damon and fiancé, Gage Gilley; also three granddaughters, Sara Willis, Cambry Damon and Iris Gilley. There will be no funeral at this time. A graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Sherm's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html
