Obituary of Lee C. Hickey
Lee C. Hickey passed away on January 12th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Born on April 8, 1946, in Springfield, Vermont, Lee was the son of Norman and Marion Hickey.
In 1966, while stationed in Rockland with the United States Coast Guard, Lee met the love of his life, Dawne Kaler. The couple married in 1967, raising their children Carol and Darren, and later welcoming Makaila through adoption.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, Lee was always there to support his family. Whether cheering from the sidelines at field hockey, soccer, or basketball games, he never missed an opportunity to be present. His family was at the center of his world, and his pride in them was unmatched.
Golf was a lifelong passion for Lee. As a long-time member of Rockland Golf Club, he built lasting friendships over countless rounds. Winters were often spent skiing with Makaila, teaching her the sport, and visiting different resorts throughout New England.
Family vacations, especially those to Florida with Dawne, Carol, and grandchildren Kyle and Alyssa, were a cherished tradition for Lee. He fulfilled a lifelong dream when he traveled to Ireland with Makaila, creating unforgettable memories of their time in Europe.
Lee was a master electrician and the owner of Lee’s Electric, where he earned a reputation for his unwavering commitment to quality, forging lasting relationships with trusted business partners and clients. His integrity, work ethic, and character were known to all who crossed his path.
Lee was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Carol Rackliff; his father, Norman Hickey; his mother, Marion Hickey; and his nephew, Jeffrey Hickey. He is survived by his wife, Dawne Hickey; son, Darren Hickey, and grandchildren, Cora and Hazel; daughter, Makaila Hickey; grandson, Kyle Rolerson, and great-granddaughter, Saylor; granddaughter, Alyssa Landrith, her husband, Dale, and great-grandchildren, Marina and Noah; his brother, Norman Hickey; his sister, Sheila Kearns; his longtime friend and business partner, Fred Merrifield; and many other family members.
A celebration of life will be held at the Rockport Masonic Hall on Saturday, January 25th, at 2 p.m. Please come and share your stories with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
