Sally Hardy

Obituary of Sally Ann Jameson Hardy

Sally Ann Jameson Hardy passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Barron Center in Portland Maine.

Sally was the oldest of 5 children born to Louis M. and Mary Loyola ‘Ola’ Jameson. She always had wonderful tales to to tell of her four siblings who predeceased her, Jean Miller, James Louis ‘Lou’ Jameson,  Robert C. ‘Jerry’ Jameson, and Mary Ruth ‘Marnie’ Dolan.

She grew up in Brewer and attended Brewer schools. Her family later moved to Bangor and she completed her senior year at John Bapst High School. She continued her education at Beal Business College and soon earned a position at the Merrill Trust Bank in Bangor.

Sally met Thomas Nolan Hardy on his return to Bangor after having served in the Navy  in the South Pacific during the war years. A mutual friend introduced them - wedding bells rang- and Ellie McGinnis remembered them  on their anniversary every year.

Sally and Tom  enjoyed a wonderful life filled with family, adventures and eventually Lake Lucerne. They spent summer Sundays picnicking with their children at Acadia National Park. They travelled and camped across the country, and cross country skied before settling into a lake community at Lake Lucerne (Philips Lake) where they gathered family around them for all occasions especially the 4th of July Lobster Bash.

Sally is survived by her three children, Mary (David) Moody, Thomas Nolan (Donna) Hardy Jr. and Dr. Louis J. (Cynthia) Hardy.

Sally doted on her grandchildren, Sarah, Mariah, Jameson, Chelsea, Emma and Nolan. She also had a sparkle in her eye for her great grandchildren, Magdalene, Maral and Rowan Pourian, Rory, Maeve and Erin Hardy, Marion Walsh and Klara Holland.

Her funeral will take place at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bangor where she was a lifelong communicant. The funeral and burial will be private.  The family will gather to celebrate her life in the Spring.

We want to thank the nurses, staff, and patients at the Barron Center for opening their hearts and being the family my mom needed.
