I was lucky enough to have Mr. Gordon at Deering High School as a history teacher. He was one of the most encouraging and engaging teachers I ever had. He was absolutely one of my favorites.
My thoughts are with his family during this time.

My condolences to Mr. Gordon's family. I had him at Lincoln Junior and he was one of my favorite teachers. He had a great sense of humor and made learning fun. After studying for hours one night for a big test, I decided to show up in class with "bags under my eyes" from not sleeping. I made tiny paper grocery bags (that said IGA) on the front and taped them under my eyes and just sat in my seat and waited for him to notice. When I explained why I had those bags, he just burst out laughing and sent a student to get someone to take a photo for the yearbook! I still have that photo in a small frame on my shelf. He was a favorite among me and my friends and I know he made a great impact on so many young people.

I remember the young Mr. Gordon bringing his smile into Lincoln as the new teacher. He was a refreshing addition to an otherwise old Lincoln and made class interesting. He didn't like the bullies & I appreciated his leadership and gentle way of reprimanding without being demeaning. Rest well, Mr. Gordon - your smile will always be remembered.

I had a handful of teachers through my entire life who I see as my greatest inspiration and Mr. Gordon was one of them. He worked to make sure that the agenda in class kept everyone engaged in the activities. I will never forget "Current Events Day" which was the day each week we would play a trivia game about all that was occurring locally and around the world. Of course, none of us realized at the time this was the way we were learning. We just saw it as extreme fun. Mr. Gordon always had a smile on his face and a special gift of connecting with all students. My thoughts are with you all, I know he will be greatly missed!

Mr. Gordon was one of the two most important non-related people in my young life. At a very vulnerable time in my life when things really could have gone off the rails I was fortunate to play baseball and basketball for him at Lincoln Junior. I really believed it saved me from heading down a really bad path. He made everyone on the team, from stars to bench warmers, feel important. He had a drill at the end of five-on-five practices to improve our one-on-one skills by having each of us eventually play every teammate one-on one. And he kept standings and stats for those sessions. He was always encouraging, pointing out where you could improve but never failing to mention what you did well and always leaving you with encouraging words. He was a very young man then, in his 20s, but had the demeanor of someone much older. He was fun too, loved to laugh and make you laugh. Fun in the classroom, fun on the field and on the court. And he didn't like bullies, much to their chagrin should they be foolish enough to challenge him or pick on someone weaker. Everyone respected him. We all looked up to him. I never got the chance to let him know how important a role he played in my life, which has been a very good one, after being on shaky ground all those years ago. So I'm letting his friends and family know: Thank you Mr. Gordon.

My sincere condolences to the Gordon family.
Mr. Gordon was one of the best teachers at Lincoln junior. I enjoyed his love of sports and playing sports trivia.

Brian was one of a kind. Students loved him and parents respected him. As a guidance counselor,I had to turn away students who begged for his classes, because he had so many in his classes. He was a great person, and so proud of his wife and her accomplishments and his son and his accomplishments. Rip Brian.
