Cherryfield- David Leighton Curtis, 84, passed away June 25, 2024 at Market Square Healthcare in South Paris with his wife Kristen by his side. David was born in Machias Maine on January 2, 1940, the son of the late Hollis A. and Esther L. (Leighton) Curtis.
He was a marine mechanic, welder and fabricator for 36 years. David had the ability to repair and restore machinery to be as good or better than new. He worked in shipyards in Rhode Island for many years as the foreman. David relocated to Steuben Maine in 1993, and worked at a shipyard in Bar Harbor, a marine store in Ellsworth and operated a repair shop in Steuben.
Surviving are his wife Kristen D. (Strom) Curtis; five children; seven grandchildren and the mother of his children.
There will be no services as he requested. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Memories and condolences may be shared on his tribute wall.
