Obituary of Pamela A Hall

Please share a memory of Pamela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Pamela A. Hall (Giroux) at the age of 71 passed away peacefully at Glenridge Nursing Home in Augusta after battling 10 years of Alzheimer’s on June1,2024. Pam was born on December 21, 1952, to Lionel and Virginia Giroux in Augusta.

Pam graduated from Cony High School with her love John in 1971 and got married a couple of years later on March 3,1973. She worked at the Kennel Shop/Pet life head office for 15 years before retiring in October 2013.  Pam and I had two Cain Terriers PJ and Echo, and Angel an 80 lb. Lab/Shepard mix which was her protector. She felt safer after our home was broken into about 15 years ago. In every room in our home are signs of Pam’s massive collection of stuffed animals and figurines.

We both enjoyed bike riding and we took a special trip to Acadia National Park to ride our mountain bikes on the carriage trails. Pam and I took many walks during the week after she showed signs of Alzheimer’s at MaineGeneral Hospital and at Capital Park in Augusta. This helped her be more active and to be with people. Pam’s first and only plane trip was a year after 9/11 to visit our daughter Tammy and her husband Jon who was in the Navy stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.  We both loved to go to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and sit on the rocks watching and listening to the waves crash against the rocks.

Pam was predeceased by her parents Lional and Virgina Giroux, brother Edward, sister Alice Morang.  She is survived by her husband John of 53 years, her daughter Tammy A. Stred, husband Jon Stred, and two granddaughters Emme and Kayla.

A special thanks to Brenda Fitz, retired nurse, who cared for Pam three weeks before she entered Woodlands Assisted Living and Memory Care Center in Lewiston and transferred six weeks later to Glenridge in Augusta, and a special thanks to the nursers and staff at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Long Term Care at Glenridge and well Health Partners (formerly Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice) who took great care of Pam at Glenridge the brief period she was there.

There will be a family gathering at the home of John Hall to celebrate Pam’s life at a later date.  Memories and condolences may be shared on her tribute wall.
