Obituary of Carol L Saloio
Carol Winchenbaugh Saloio, 67, of Cushing, Maine passed away peacefully on March 07, 2024, at PenBay Medical Center with her loving husband by her side.
Born in Rockland on May 8, 1956, she was one of 12 children born to Conrad Sr. and Mary Walker Winchenbaugh. Carol attended Rockland public schools graduating from Rockland District High School in 1973.
Carol, a mother of six, spent much of her life doing the important work of being a homemaker. When her children were young, her house was the house all of the kids wanted to hang out at; some still kept in touch as adults. She loved trying out and sharing new recipes, spending time with her grandchildren, and spoiling her beloved dog, Ricco. She had recently begun experimenting with making new flavors of jam and gifted them to others. She will be remembered for her sarcasm, wit, and her determined no-nonsense attitude as well as her desire to help others.
Carol was predeceased by her father and mother, her brothers Paul Winchenbaugh, Sr. and Joe Winchenbaugh, and one grandson, Patriot Cline.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel of Cushing; three sons, Edwin West, Jr and his wife Lisa of Tampa, FL, LeRoy Leavitt and his wife Kimberly of FL, and JaColby Leavitt and his wife Alison of Washington; three daughters Staci Bowman and her husband Greg of Washington, Samantha Valera and her husband Jesse of Honolulu, HI, and Nola-Raye Cline and her husband Ryan of Spruce Head; a bonus daughter in law Courtney Weichmann of Sweeny, TX; four brothers Conrad Jr. and his wife Bonnie, Dale Winchenbaugh, Kevin and his wife Farrah, and Brett and his wife Amy; five sisters Donna Cross, Vicki Winchenbaugh and her husband Tom Pelletier, Pam Miller, Kris Rich, and Lisa Winchenbaugh-Kenney; two sisters in law Linda Winchenbaugh and Judy Winchenbaugh; her grandchildren Joslyn West-Sing, Tyler Bowman, Elizabeth Bowman, and Nicholas Bowman, Maddison Leavitt, Isaac Valera, Liberty Leavitt, Emma Leavitt, JaColby Leavitt, Jr, Savannah Leavitt, and Luna and Zachary; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
One thing that those close to Carol know is that she was always afraid to fly. She now gets to fly with the angels.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2024.
