Obituary of Frances M Tarrio
Frances Baldwin Tarrio, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died on August 31 at the age of 92. She was born in Cranston, RI, and grew up in Norwich, CT. She graduated from Norwich Free Academy and was a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma sorority.
She was married to Frank R. Tarrio for 75 years and lived most of those years in Old Saybrook, CT. They had five children: Frances Leslie (Lee) Lucas (Scott) of East Boothbay, ME; Christine (Chree) Perkins (Doug) of Leicester, VT; Anne Swanson of Conway, NH; Frank Richard Tarrio, Jr., (Christine) of Greenfield, NH; and Charles (Charlie) Tarrio (Danielle Partello) of Rockville, MD.
Fran received a baccalaureate degree in accounting from the University of New Haven as an adult and worked as an accountant at RR Donnelly until her retirement. She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Old Saybrook, serving on the alter guild for many years. She was one of the smartest people on earth and was a member of Mensa CT. She was a licensed pilot and aircraft owner and a member of the Ninety-Nines, a female pilots’ association. But most importantly, she was totally devoted to her large family.
In recent years, she and Frank moved to St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor, ME, to be closer to family in northern New England.
Fran is survived by her husband and five children as well as 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren as well as sister-in-law and oldest friend Dorothy Tarrio Reed, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the staff at St. Andrews Village, especially those who work in the Safe Havens unit (special shoutout to Jess and Evelyn), for the wonderful care and support they provided Fran (and Frank) over the years.
