Obituary of Richard Adam Rowe

Richard Adam Rowe (Dick) age 86 of Morris Illinois passed away on August 24th, 2023, in Dresden, Maine after a year-long battle with cancer. Richard was born in Lasalle, Illinois to Richard Rowe and Rosalie (Wagner)Rowe on February 27, 1937.

He went to Marseilles High School (class of 1955) where he played football. After graduation, he worked as a railroad operator and then as a factory worker. He served in the Army from July 1958 to July 1961 where he received medals in sharpshooting and marksmanship and soldier of the month awards. After the military, he started in construction.

He lived in Joliet and Channahon and settled in Morris Illinois where he spent over 45 years with his wife Beverly Rowe. After retirement, he worked on the casino boats for 8 years as a blackjack dealer (favorite job ever). He bowled in leagues in Morris and Joliet and the racetrack and fishing on the weekends. Richard moved to Maine in April 2020 to be closer to his daughter Marjorie Avery. He joined the bowling teams in Brunswick and Augusta and the horse track on weekends. Also, whatever fishing hole he could find.

Richard is survived by his brother Ralph Rowe of Marseilles Illinois and Jerry Rowe of California, his daughters Sandra Dennis of Marseilles Illinois, Lori Sackett and partner John of Lasalle Illinois, Marjorie Avery and husband Ralph Avery of Dresden Maine and Angel Wolf of Indiana. Stepdaughter Julie Morrow and husband Keith, stepsons Donny Moore, and James Moore. Also, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Beverly Rowe and son Richard Adam Rowe Jr.

Funeral service is graveside on October 3, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with military honors. Service will be 30 minutes.
