Arthur Roland Edgecomb, "Archie" as many knew him, passed away after a brief illness at home with family members at his side on July 9, 2023. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father and lifelong friend to many.
 

"Archie" was born September 9, 1935, in Ellsworth to Roland A. and Phyllis(Frost) Edgecomb and grew up in Mariaviile.
 

"Archie" graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1954. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving until 1960. He married in England and returned to Maine with his wife and daughter. He was employed as a welder at L.S. Thorsens. In March 1963 the family returned to Rayleigh, England where he worked as a member of the Boilermakers Union.
 

"Archie" returned to the United States in 1967 settling in Ellsworth. He continued to work as a welder for Harold MacQuinn Inc., Smitty's Welding Co., and Higgins Electric Motor. In 1990 he operated his own business, Edgecomb's Welding Service until his retirement

"Archie" was a member of Lygonia Lodge No. 40, Acadia Chapter No. 31, Past Commander of Blanquefort Commandry No. 13 and Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor. He was a proud recipient of the Knights Templar Cross of Honor. As a special honor he was a member of the Cross and Crown Tabernacle.
 

"Archie" is survived by daughter Tracey L. E. Higgins and husband Brian; step grandsons Darby Higgins and partner Amanda Robbins, Devin Higgins and wife Felisha; step great grandsons Brody and Camden; brother Gerald Edgecomb; sister Lisa Colbeth; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Sylvia, brother Malcolm Edgecomb and sister Sally Haslam.
 

Arthur was a member of the United Baptist Church of Ellsworth. He loved gardening and was dedicated to feeding the deer, birds, squirrels and raccoons, which frequented his many feeders.
 

The family would like to thank Northern Light Hospice of Hancock County for their loving care.

A Masonic Funeral Service will be held at the Masonic Hall, 21 Carriage Rd., Ellsworth Maine on September 16, 2023, 1pm.  Memories and condolences may be shared on his tribute wall.
