Obituary of Nancy A Lovejoy

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nancy Angell Lovejoy, 80, passed away June 17th after a courageous battle with a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 7th, 1943 in Auburn, ME, Nancy was the beloved daughter of Albert Angell and Marion (Leonard) Angell. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and remarkable accomplishments.

Nancy’s passion for dance flourished from a young age. In 1961, she graduated from Leavitt Institute in Turner, ME, and further pursued her artistic talents at the prestigious Boston Conservatory of Music. Nancy was an exceptionally talented dancer. For many years, she shared her love of dance as an instructor at her own studio, “Nancy's School of Dance." Although she declined the opportunity to join the renowned Radio City Rockettes in New York City, she cherished the honor and considered it a significant achievement throughout her life.

As a teenager, Nancy created lasting memories at the family cottage on Bear Pond in Turner, where she shared joyous moments with her brother, Dick. Nancy possessed a natural sense of style and a flair for fashion and jewelry. She took great pride in her appearance, and always looked her best. Her hobbies included boating, water skiing, hiking, and rock hounding alongside her loving husband. She also enjoyed shopping and collecting antiques. She could never pass up a bargain! Nancy was also a huge animal lover, which she inherited from her great uncle, George Thorndike Angell, the visionary founder of the MSPCA and Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston. Nancy leaves behind her two beloved dogs, Louie and Mo.

Nancy is survived by her adoring husband of 42 years, Kenneth Lovejoy, of Wayne, ME. She is also lovingly remembered by her daughter, Hilary White-Pokorny, and husband Bret Pokorny of Hartland ME, her son, Daniel Lovejoy, and wife Amanda Lovejoy of Augusta, her sister-in-law, Barbara Angell of Leeds, three grandchildren: Corey Farnham, Haley Farnham, and Winter Lovejoy, as well as two great- grandchildren, with two more on the way (twins), a niece, and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Natalie Angell Burns, her brother Richard Angell, and her infant son, Donald Albert Lovejoy

At Nancy's request, a formal funeral service will not be held. Instead, her immediate family will hold a heartfelt celebration of her life by the ocean, a place that brought her immense joy.
