Obituary of Jerry Ann Howard

Please share a memory of Jerry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry "Jj" Howard, a cherished mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Jerry passed away on May 19, 2023, at the age of 62. Born on April 27, 1961, Jerry was known for her warm, feisty, quirky, and spitfire personality, and she will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Jerry proudly graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, Maine, in 1981. She held a strong bond with her family and believed in always being there for them. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her son, John Thornton Jr., who survives her. Together, they created a legacy of kindness and love, which will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Predeceased by her beloved mother, Blanche Hawes, Jerry is now reunited with her in heaven. In her memory, we share a heartfelt request from her son: "Give grandmother a hug for me."

Throughout her life, Jerry had a love for music and enjoyed listening to her favorite songs "My Sharona" by The Knack and "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns and Roses. She found joy in simple pleasures such as eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chicken noodle soup, York's Peppermint Pattie's, and whoopie pies. She particularly relished Canada Dry Ginger Ale as her favorite drink.

A fan of the Boston Red Sox, Jerry also took great pleasure in spending time listening to the oldies, talking on the phone, and visiting with family and friends. Writing letters was another pastime Jerry enjoyed. Among her favorite local spots was Fielders Choice, and her favorite colors were blue and green.

Jerry's life was marked by her commitment to family, her infectious laughter, and her ability to light up a room. She will live on through all of the lives she touched, and the memories we now hold close to our hearts. Jerry, you will be greatly missed, but your legacy of love will always endure.
