David T. Barrows 'Tom', 73, of 51 Townfarm Rd Monmouth, went home with the Lord Wednesday, October 26, 2022, following a long hard-fought battle with cancer.

He was a former resident of Monmouth since 1973. He was born in Brockton, MA  October 16, 1949 son of David S. Barrows and Barbara A. Barrows.

Tom was a good husband, father, brother, and friend. He had several interests including playing baseball with the kids and friends, fishing with his son Ray, camping at 'Papoose Camping Ground' with lifelong friends John and Cheryl Lawson, and playing pool.

He looked forward to going to Bob and Jen's to play pool with his 'pool buddies' or playing pool with Ron at his house.

He enjoyed going to the casino with family & friends. His favorite slot game was 'Mermaid'. Sometimes he'd bet big -$1.82!

Tom loved watching the birds first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee.

Tom owned and operated 'Barrows Used Auto Parts' for 37 years.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Patty of 44 years; Daughter, Brandy and partner Aaron, Son Raymond Barrows and wife Billie Jean, Grandchildren; Kayla Searles, Nova, and Wyatt Barrows, four sisters Cheryl Shank and husband Tim of Pittston, Dawna Crockett, of  Mechanic Falls, Jeanne York and husband Ron, of  Pittston, Jo Hoel, of  Chelsea; brother Scott Barrows and wife Sue, of Pittston; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom wanted the following friends to know he was grateful for their friendship; Ann, Bob and Jen, Cheryl and John, Cy, Henry and Beulia, Mike, and Ray M.

Tom was grateful for all who helped him during his illness:

  • Alphonse Cancer Center: Alias 'Chemo -Spa' as he called it.

Dr. Kim, thank you for taking an interest in Tom as a person and not just treating the cancer.  Thank you nursing staff, support staff and volunteers including visits from Lily (dog) you made Tom's visits very comfortable. Dora, Tom looked forward to your chats and how you knew just how he liked his coffee & muffin!

  • Thank you Sandy & Vicky (home nurses), you saved Tom from many trips to the Chemo- Spa.
  • Maine General Staff: Thank you for the care you gave Tom during the multiple admissions, including the ER, multiple scans, tests & procedures.
  • Glenridge Comfort Care Staff that cared for Tom: Tom's words 'I love it here!'

Thank you for the great care, joking with Tom, & the support you gave him, his family & friends.

A Special Thank-you: to Pastor Jeremy Hawkins, of Grace Community Chapel in West Gardiner.

Thank you for the many hours you spent with Tom's family. You brought peace and comfort to our broken hearts.
