Obituary of Linda Kay Morton

Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Linda Kay Morton, 75 of Steep Falls passed away peacefully at Maine Medical Center surrounded by her family on August 5, 2022.  Linda was born August 16, 1946, in Bridgton, Maine to Willis D. Eldridge and Marian Iona Burnham.

She was a longtime resident of South Paris who moved to Steep Falls to live with her son and daughter-in-law in January of 2022 after retiring. Linda earned her high school diploma late in life and graduated from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in 2017.  She worked for many decades in shoe factories, group homes caring for special needs adults then transitioned to a shared living provider with Momentum where she took care of disabled adults in her home. She took care of her residents like they were her very own children and loved them with her whole heart.

Linda was loving, caring, funny, strong, independent, courageous, stubborn, fearless, generous, loyal, hard worker, a real firecracker who spoke her mind.  In her younger years loved to go dancing, country music, cross stitch, rug hooking, reading, going to yard sales, craft fairs, shopping, driving around, dining out, birdwatching, talking on the telephone, talking about and watching Nascar races with her son-in-law Steve and visiting with family and friends.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, her son Franklin W. Knight who passed in 2001 and by her siblings, Dale W. Eldridge, Barbara Thompson, and David W. Eldridge.  Surviving are her children, William Knight of Lewiston, Deborah Trott of Portland, Robert Allen (wife Kandi) of Norway, Tina Levesque of Norway, Charles R. Allen, Jr. (wife April) of Steep Falls, her siblings, Robin Edwards and husband Joey of Harrison, Caroline Hall and husband Loren of Casco, her siblings-in-law Pat Oliver of Casco, Andrew Thompson of Westbrook and Diana Eldridge of Casco, her grandchildren, Walter, Colleen, Jennifer, Bill, Chris, Joshua, Aaron, Andrew, Whitney, Nicholas, Bailey, Trenton, Sarah and Molly, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A small graveside service will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery in Casco for family and friends on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at 10am with brunch to follow.

Memories and condolences may be shared on her tribute wall.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Special Olympics Maine, 525 Main St Unit D, South Portland, ME 04106 and/or  Dempsey Center – Lewiston, 29 Lowell St, Lewiston, ME 04240.
