Ruth Linnea Campbell, 91, of Camden, Maine died on December the 5th, 2021, at the Sussman Hospice House in Rockport, Maine. Ruth was born in 1929, in Boston, MA to Lisa and Thor Lindstrom. She enjoyed growing up in Boston, and graduated from Roslindale High School in 1947. Ruth married Philip W. Campbell in 1957, and they had three children together. Ruth became a widow at 40 years old, and successfully raised the children on her own. She held various jobs throughout her life, including being clerk at Filene’s Basement, and a Telephone switchboard operator. She was proud of her Swedish heritage and traveled to Sweden on three occasions. She also enjoyed traveling to visit family in Arizona and Chicago. Ruth loved participating in crafts throughout her life, including her time at Merry Gardens. Although Ruth faced many losses throughout her life, she loved to laugh, and always had a positive presence. Ruth is survived by her son, Eric Campbell of Camden, her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Jim Owen of Camden, her grandson and his girlfriend, Ian Emerson and Corey Morrissey of Salisbury, MA, her granddaughter and her spouse, Audrey and Chris Leitao, great-granddaughter, Emelyn Leitao and great-grandson, Mitchell Leitao, all of Thetford, Vermont. She is predeceased by her spouse, Philip W. Campbell, a wounded and decorated Korean War Veteran, and her son, Carl Campbell. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Merry Gardens in Camden, and to the staff at Maine Health Hospice/Sussman House, for their professionalism, hard work and dedication. A graveside service at Mayflower Cemetery in Taunton, MA will occur in the Spring of 2022. Ruth was a truly loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered by many, as one of the most genuinely kind and caring people they have ever known. Her kindness, care and love will always live on.
