Obituary of Anne M. Whatley

Anne McKiel Whatley, age 92, Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 19, 2021. She was preceded by her husband, Richard J. of 54 years in 2018. Anne is mother to William of Cincinnati, OH, Suzanne of Portland, ME, Timothy of Collegeville, PA, Janet (Blum) of Falmouth, ME and Edward of Fredericksburg, VA, 15 grandchildren and a recently born great-grandson. A celebration of life will take place in the summer of 2022 and her ashes will be buried in Albion, Maine, her birthplace. She was born to Elise and Harry McKiel, February 11, 1929. Her father was a dairy and potato farmer and she always bragged about her skills as a potato picker and how she milked cows before school growing up. She graduated from the University of Maine in 1953, and taught home economics for over 30 years at Spring-Ford High School, Royersford, PA. She retired to Fayette, ME in 1989 where she enjoyed quilting, cooking, and spending time with family, especially at the family camp on Annabessacook Lake, Winthrop, ME. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to the Annabessacook Lake Improvement Association, 96 Annabessacook Drive, Winthrop, ME 04364 to support the education scholarship or milfoil program.
