Obituary of Dwayne Leon Knowlton
Dwayne Leon Knowlton passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Rockland, Maine.
Dwayne was born March 9, 1971 to David Knowlton II and Jeannette Smith Stockford and was the younger brother of David Knowlton III who, along with his wife Tammie, had the honor of caring for Dwayne in his final days.
Dwayne grew up in Rockland and attended schools there. He was an All-Star athlete on Championship teams, participating in basketball, football and baseball. After graduating from Rockland District High School, he continued his education and his love of basketball at Husson College. He earned a B.S. in Business Management and played all four years for the college basketball team. He was then hired as the Assistant Coach of the Husson Basketball team after graduation.
Shortly after obtaining his degree, he became an entrepreneur, starting the Oceanside Seafood & Steakhouse Restaurant and adding the Navigator Restaurant and Landings Restaurant to the business over the years. After owning restaurants, he also worked at FMC, JBI, managed a Dunkin Donuts and most recently worked at Lyman Morse.
Dwayne married Jeanette Dorr in 2004 and together they created Dwayne’s three greatest accomplishments. His daughters, Alexia, Aubryn and Maddisen, were the most important part of Dwayne’s life and he was a very proud father. He attended their school and sporting events and always cheered them on. He was kind and patient and always encouraging them to walk on their own path. They will do great things because his love and support has guided them into becoming strong, smart, talented young ladies.
Dwayne was a Dallas Cowboys fan from an early age and he loved to go to watch live pro sports games. He was also known to enjoy a little friendly wager on the games. He loved spending time with his children outdoors fishing, swimming and taking their dog, Snickers, to the beach. He loved playing golf with his brother and with his two lifelong friends Sam Hall and Jamie Hall. He had many other friends and supporters throughout the years and was a kind and gentle man that loved many and was loved by many.
Dwayne is survived by his daughters, Alexia, Aubryn and Maddisen along with their mother, Jeanette Knowlton of Rockland, His mother and step father, Jeannette and Terry Stockford of Rockland, His brother and sister-in-law, David and Tammie Knowlton, and their daughters Gabbie and husband Andrew, Millie and Isie Knowlton of Wilmington, DE, his step sister and her husband, Bethany and Aaron Kurr, and their daughters, Grace and Kaylee, of Warren, ME, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
