Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Lizotte of Caribou, Maine passed away with his children and granddaughter by his side at the Maine's Veterans Home on February 04, 2021. He was born in Caribou on December 26, 1934 to Leo Lizotte and Pearl (Sirois) Lizotte and grew up on the family farm in Connor. After high school, Richard enlisted in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. In 1973, he married Barbara (Levesque) Lizotte and had two children, Julie and Ronald and step-daughter Debbie (White) Sites. He was a loving grandfather, affectionately referred to as Pepe, to Courtney Burby and Brayden Burby. He loved to take his grandchildren on adventures and taught them to drive, fish and hunt. His pride and joy was his dog Chein, who he thought of as another grandchild. Throughout his life in the County, Richard worked as a welder, logger and dabbled in farming. In his later years, he worked on the former Loring Air Force base as a civilian in snow removal. He was predeceased by his parents, his ex-wife Barbara, and his brother Ronald. Ronald passed away at a young age, leaving two young children behind, Mark Lizotte and Kay (Lizotte) Judkins that Richard cared for very much. Richard is survived by his children, his grandchildren, two sisters Carolyn Leighton and her husband Harold Leighton of Wytheville, VA; and Ann Sexton and her husband James Sexton of Pensacola, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In the last months of Richard's life, he was fortunate to have resided at the Maine Veteran's Home in Caribou where he had the best care anywhere in the County. He developed relationships with all of his caregivers. He was more fortunate than most during this COVID pandemic as his daughter Julie and his granddaughter Courtney worked there and he could see them and talk to them daily. The family would like to express their extreme appreciation for the love, attention and outstanding care that the staff at Maine Veteran's home provided Richard during his time with them. Services for a spring committal will be held at the on May 28, 2021 at 2:00PM at the Sacred Heart Parish.
