I taught with Barbara throughout her career in the Writing Workshop and Knight Institute at Cornell. She was indefatigable in advocating for students and working to insure they had the best teaching and resources available to them. She was a wonderful teacher, working with students at all levels of our curriculum, at all levels of writing. She developed an expertise in mentoring graduate students who were struggling to complete dissertations and helped many of them complete their work and go on to successful careers.
Jen: I was sorry when Barbara retired from the Writing Workshop because I knew we could not replace her. I am pleased that she found a second career teaching the literature she loved so much.
