Obituary of Deborah Breed Allen
Deborah Elliot (Breed) Allen, 74 of Newcastle, Maine passed away peacefully January 17, 2020, with her long-time companion Richard Fenton by her side. Deborah was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 18, 1945 to Dr. Frederic B. Breed and Mrs. Betsy (Elliot) Breed of Gloucester, Massachusetts.
Deborah spent most of her life on the North Shore of Massachusetts and for the last 40 years spent her summers in Castine, Maine. Castine was her favorite place, finding beauty and joy in even the smallest things. Deborah enjoyed traveling, sailing, gardening, and reading and was an Early Childhood Development volunteer for many years.
Deborah is survived by her devoted companion Richard “Dick” Fenton of Newburyport, MA and Castine, ME, and his two children Martha Roberts of Boxford, MA and Carter Fenton of Denver, CO; her four sons, Frederic Allen of Newton, MA, David Allen of London, UK, Peter Allen of Santa Monica, CA and Benjamin Allen of Piedmont, CA; her sister Bonnie (Breed) Bingle and brother-in-law John Bingle of Annisquam, MA; eight Allen and four Fenton grandchildren, five daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, and several nephews and nieces. Deborah was predeceased by her beloved dog Chelsea. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. A celebration of her life will be announced this summer.
