Obituary of Margaret C. Lahart

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret (Peggy) Lahart passed away surrounded by her loved ones on December 15, 2019, in Augusta, Maine. She was born in New York City on November 8, 1928, to Mary (Kelly) and James Woulfe, both of whom emigrated from Limerick, Ireland. Peggy married Jack Lahart in 1962 and they proceeded to live in the Bronx, NY, Hazlet, NJ, White Plains, NY, and then Hilton Head Island, SC. Peggy lived in Waterville and Augusta, Maine for the past 12 years. Peggy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. As was written by one of her nieces upon hearing of her passing – “it was always a treat when Aunt Peg was coming – she was fun, beautiful, and sophisticated!” I think that says it all for those who loved and respected her. Peggy was also a business woman held in high esteem as she headed the personnel departments of many notable concerns including, but not limited to Blue Cross/Blue Shield and the Tensolite Corporation. Peggy is survived by her daughters, Mary Westwater and husband Richard, Nancy Gibson and husband Andrew, her son John Lahart and wife Claudia, grandchildren Daniel Gibson (Lauren), Craig Gibson (Ann Marie), Kelly Brooks (Layton), John Patrick Lahart, and Emma Zerba and great grandchildren Samuel Gibson and Jack Gibson and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack, her brother James Woulfe, her son Thomas Lahart, and great grandchild, Dara Marie Gibson. Peggy was beloved by all who met her and was devoted to her family and friends. She will be missed by all. A Mass of Christian Burial and a celebration of Peg’s life will take place in Pittsfield, Maine in the spring as well as in Beaufort, SC, where she will be buried with her husband Jack at the National Cemetery. In Memory of Peggy’s great-granddaughter, Dara Marie Gibson, please donate in Dara’s name to: Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation 11325 Seven Locks Rd.
