MAXINE (MOODY) YORK, 90, died November 3, 2008 in Belfast. She was born in Lincolnville on October 8, 1918, daughter of Harry R. and Jennie (Carr) Moody. She graduated from Camden High School, Class of '36 and went on to study nursing. She was a member of the first graduating class in 1945 from the Waldo County General Hospital nursing program. Maxine and her husband raised seven children, and then she went into private duty nursing, retiring in 1980. She was known widely for her yard sales and generous work for others in the community. Maxine was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Burton York and a daughter Elaine Elizabeth. Survivors include her children, Elden York and wife Karen of Florida, Winston York of Belfast, Gary York of Ellsworth and Rome, NY, Michael York and wife Rebecca of Orrington, Walter York and fiancee Theresa, Eric York and wife Beth, all of Belfast; two sisters, Rosamond Hopkins of Florida and Doris Johnson of Westbrook; grandchildren, Sara, Christopher, Jonathan, Brandon, Jackson, Kasidee, Nicholas, Ericka, Morgan and Angela; many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call from 6-8 Thursday, November 6th at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Ken Davenport officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in Maxine's name to Waldo County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 407, Belfast, ME 04915.
