Obituary of Hazel Hodgkins Flynn

HAZEL HODGKINS FLYNN, age 88 of Unionville, Maine, died at Goshen, Indiana December 26, 2008. Hazel was born April 2, 1920 in Gouldsboro, Maine to Albert H. Hodgkins and Alzada Gordon Hodgkins. She married Floyd T. Flynn on June 17, 1937. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2007. Hazel worked as a secretary for Wymans in Milbridge, Maine for a number of years, and she and Floyd led the Unionville Church of God for over 20 years. Hazel loved the ocean, on which she was raised, and spent many happy days walking on the shore. She also loved to ride her motorcycle and for many years, that was her favorite pasttime. She loved poetry and was herself a great poet. She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Burt and her husband, Jerry, of Goshen, Indiana; one son, Willis E. "Bill" Flynn and his wife Mattie of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two grandsons, Jerry Burt, Jr and wife Becky of Goshen, Indiana, Michael Flynn and wife, Simone, of Petersaurch, Germany; two granddaughters, Shelley Flynn of Columbia, Maryland and Rebecca Shaw and husband Todd of Peoria, Illinois; six great grandchildren, Nicholas Jay Burt, Kristyn Burt, Jessica Burt, Dakota Flynn, Hannah Shaw and Ethan Shaw; three nieces, Janice Callaway of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sharon Haas of Terre Hill, Pennsylvania and Sheila Scofield of Terre Hill, Pennsylvania. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Malcolm Hodgkins and Addison Hodgkins. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 20th at Unionville Church of God. Arrangements under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
