Obituary of William Henry Whittington

William 'Whitt' Henry Whittington, Sr., 77, of Denver Colorado, died February 28, 2009, after a long illness at the Togas, VAMC in Augusta, Maine. He was born in Guthrie, OK on December 29th, 1932. He entered the military service immediately after high school and served the Navy honorably for 22 years as an aviation storekeeper, retiring in 1972. He proceeded to work for Sears and Roebuck for an additional 25 years, retiring in 1990. He dedicated his final years to the Denver First Church of Nazarene, Denver, CO. He was actively involved with Christian Missionary trips under director, Bob Moore, traveling to many underserved areas of Central America. He is predeceased in death by his parents and two brothers, Virgil and Perry Whittington. He is survived by his three children, Laurie Ann Montague of Claremont, NH, J. Guy Whittington of Mt.Vernon, ME, and William Henry Whittington, Jr., AZ Chief US Navy, and six grandchildren, ages 25-1, Jessica Taylor, Kaitlyn Taylor, Marcus Taylor, Molly Whittington, Sally Whittington and J.J. Whittington. Memorial services with military honors will be held at the Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, ME on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 1pm. The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff and doctors at Togus for their loving care of Whitt.
