Obituary of Millard Crocker

MILLARD ‘ROLLAND’ CROCKER, 83 of Brooks, died March 15, 2009 in Belfast. He was born February 18, 1926 in Exeter, the son of Charles and Estella (McCormack) Crocker. He was a proud, twice enlisted veteran during WWII on the USS Penobscot in the U.S. Navy. He was Seaman First Class and he also received the WWII Victory Medal and the American Area Ribbon. While in the Navy he was an instructor in 16 mm motion picture projector operation in the US Naval School. He was a member of the Algamated Association of Street, Electric Railway and Motor Coach Employees of America in Hartford, CT. Rolland also completed studies in claim investigation and adjustment in Texas and was a licensed insurance adjuster in Maine. He operated a dairy farm in Danforth and worked for many years as a forester in Ashland and retired from Stillwater Lumber in Old Town. He is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Priscilla Chick Crocker, siblings, Leon Crocker, Harold Crocker, Richard Crocker, Irene Vannoster, Gerald Crocker, Arnold ‘Cuffy’ Crocker, Milland Crocker; a son-in-law, Freeman Marshall and special son-in-law and friend, Russell Jarvis. Rolland is survived by his children, Carol Philbrook of Windham, NH, Cindy Jarvis of Greenbush, Brenda Shacklett of Ellsworth, Sandra Marshall of Brooks, John Crocker and wife Wanita of Somersworth, NH; siblings, Leland ‘Bucky’ Crocker and Myrtle Humphrey; grandchildren, Dominick, Banyon, Cindy Jo, Russell Todd, Megan, Susan, Sue Ellen, Wanda, Cindy Jean, Danny, John and Kelsey; several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to the caring friends who helped and supported him in recent years. A spring burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Hoyt Brook Cemetery in Argyle, Maine. Those who wish may make memorial donations in his memory to Waldo County General Hospital, Hospice Unit, 118 Northport Avenue, Belfast, ME 04915 or Beals House, One VA Center, Togus, Maine 04330. Arrangements under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
