Obituary of Rosemary G. Cameron

Rosemary G. Cameron, 56, of Thorndike, ME passed away May 1, 2009 after a courageous battle with multiple cancers. She was born on Nov. 25, 1952, to James and Lucille Galvin. Rosemary grew up in Wallingford, CT where she graduated from Lyman Hall High School. She obtained her B.A. in English from the State University of NY @ Plattsburgh, a M.A. in Educational Administration and Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from the University of ME@ Orono. After moving to Maine in 1980, Rosemary began a life-long pursuit of helping people through her unique ability to blend compassion and discipline. This journey began at Unity College where she worked in Cooperative Education and went on to become a senior administrator. She then transitioned to Morse Memorial Elementary School in Brooks, ME where she taught 4th grade for 6 yrs, then onto Norridgewock Central Grade School where she taught 4th - 6th grade until her retirement in 2003. After retiring from teaching she became the Thorndike Correspondent for the Republican Journal covering local news and events. She was an active member of her local community and throughout her life touched so many people in both tangible and subtle ways. Rosemary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher who spent her life working to improve the lives of others. Her dedication, drive, and courage was an inspiration to all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Northport, walking the sandy beaches of Sanibel Island collecting shells, family trips to Walt Disney World, gardening, cooking, old movies, ice skating, reading, writing, poetry, movies, and theater. Rosemary was predeceased by father James Galvin and her brother James Galvin Jr. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband David and her son Justin of Thorndike, ME, son Matthew Sibley and grandson Ian of Cape Coral, FL, mother Lucille Galvin of Meriden, CT, brother Kerry Galvin and wife Michelle and children of Vernon, CT, sister Jeanne Erazmus and husband Don and Niece Kayleigh Erazmus of Middletown, CT and her very dear and supportive friends. A Catholic mass will be celebrated in her memory On Wednesday, May 6th at St. Francis of Assisi church In Belfast, ME at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in her memory to New Hope for Women PO Box A Rockland, ME 04841-0733. Arrangements under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
