Obituary of Peter Dirck Sutphen Bowers

Peter Dirck Sutphen Bowers, age 75 of 57 Town House Road, Freedom, died at his home June 17, 2009 after a long illness. He was the son of Fredson T. Bowers and Hyacinth Bowers Hall. He was born on April 3, 1934 in Boston, MA and was educated in Massachusetts. For many years he was employed by Codman-Shurtleff in the financial department. In 1981 he and his wife moved to Freedom, Maine from Massachusetts. He loved working on their farm, raising sheep and gardening. During his lifetime he served on several private and civic boards. For 25 years he volunteered with Hospice in Waterville, Waldo County General Hospital and in Mount Home, AR. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marion; daughters Jennifer Lynn Carriere of Norfork, AR and Laura Beth Breault of Knox; five grandchildren, Haley, Nathan, Cassie and Samuel Carriere of Norfork, AR and Jessica Lynn Breault of Knox; a brother Fredson Thayer Bowers II of Newton Highlands, MA. a sister, Joan Stout and a twin brother, Stephen predeceased him. A remembrance service will be held on July 11th at 11 AM at the Freedom Gongregational Church in Freedom with Verne Wood officiating.
