Obituary of James I Rockefeller
James I. Rockefeller, 76, of Dresden, ME died Monday, July 27th after a short illness. Jim was born in Orland, ME on Aug. 4, 1932. He graduated from Morse High School in Bath, ME and proudly served 4 years in the USAF during the Korean Conflict. Jim made his living by selling and repairing small engine equipment and owned his own business in Exeter, NH. He moved back to the Bath area in 1986 and enjoyed retirement in the home he built in Woolwich. Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis (Tardiff), his parents James K and Pauline Rockefeller and a beloved granddaughter, Kelley Seavey. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Claire, two sons, Dale C. Rockefeller and wife Christine of Greenland, NH, Richard Currier of Burnham, ME. Three daughters, Diane Maune and husband Jerry of Fisherville, KY, Valerie Seavey and husband Randy of Bernard, ME and Nancy Foster and husband Rodney of Dresden, ME. Jim was very proud of his 11 grandchildren. No formal service is planned. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 1:00-4:00 at Kennebec Tavern at 119 Commercial St. in Bath, ME. All family and friends are invited to come and lift a glass in Jim’s memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s name to the Morse High School Class of 1951 c/o Paul Burns 2 Hanson Drive Topsham, ME 04086.
