Obituary of Agnes Mae Perkins

Agnes Mae Perkins, 84, died July 28, 2009 at a local health care facility. She was born in Winterport December 20, 1924, the daughter of John and Neota (Leach) Rooney. She was the salutatorian of the Class of 1943 at Searsport High School. She worked at Woolworth's for over 25 years until their closing and then was bookkeeper for Gould & Sons in Searsport. She enjoyed beano, harness racing and playing the lottery where she always told her family “one day we'll win the big one”. She traveled with her husband, Elmer, to the Fryeburg Fair for over 30 years. She enjoyed gambling, U-Ota-Bowl and watching the Red Sox. She loved spending time with her family. Agnes was predeceased by her daughter, Leslie, and her three brothers, John “Buddy”, William and Raymond. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Elmer Morrison Perkins of Belfast; her two daughters, Laurelyn Deans and her husband Douglas of Bucksport and Lorna Bernosky and her husband Richard of Belfast; two sisters, Carolyn Herrick of Stockton Springs and Arlene Marden of Hampden; five grandchildren, Michelle Tozier and Danny, Elmer Dean, Fred and Sarah Black, Ricky Bernosky and Derek Bernosky; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 3rd at Belfast United Methodist Church, Mill Lane with Rev. Dr. David Abbott officiating. Friends are asked to make donations in Agnes' memory to Hospice of Hancock County, 14 McKenzie Avenue, Ellsworth, Maine 04605 or Waldo County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 772, Belfast, ME 04915. Arrangements under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
