Obituary of Caroline Ann Miller - Woodbury

Please share a memory of Caroline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Caroline Ann Miller – Woodbury 62 of Newcastle went home with the Lord on Friday, July 31. Her husband, Timothy, and their children, were at her side. Caroline, the Daughter of Roger and Ellen L.L. Miller of Waldoboro and Eastport, Maine, was born in Damariscotta on November 22, 1946. From an early age, Caroline instilled a marvelous and contagious devotion to family and community. During Uncle Frederick G. Payne’s run for Governor of Maine in 1948 she displayed her zeal for assisting family and neighbors on the campaign trail at the age of two. She became the darling and beloved visitor of The Blaine House and the Capitol across the street during Payne’s two terms as governor. She was frequently part of the first family gatherings at The Blaine House and on the campaign trail during Payne’s successful bids for re-election as governor and election to the United States Senate. After attending the Miller School and Lincoln Academy, she followed her passion of caring for people at the West Virginia University School of Nursing. She spent many years working in hospitals and private duty nursing in West Virginia and Maine. Caroline was also the founder and president of Woodbury & Associates, a company that provided cleaning and maintenance services to local hospitals, doctor’s offices, banks and summer houses in Lincoln County. She played the clarinet and piano. She was an avid gardener and gourmand. She took great joy riding the Harley that she shared with her husband. Without question, the greatest gift from the Lord during Caroline’s wondrous life are her grandchildren who adorned her like a litter of puppies. She fulfilled the most special title of “Nana” to Nicholas, Megan, Emily, Derick, Christopher, Jessica, Jennifer, Tyler, Cameron, Mathew, Christina, Jay, Adam, Joshua, Gwendolyn, and Nathan. While predeceased by her father Roger and daughter-in-law Patricia Bryant Woodbury, she is survived by her mother Ellen. She is also survived by her husband, and childhood sweetheart, Timothy Woodbury of Newcastle, sons Brian and his wife Mary of Washington, DC and Jefferson, Maine, Frederick and Sharon of Newcastle, Kenneth of Florida, daughters Cindy of New Jersey, Ellen Katherine Woodbury of Damariscotta, Maine, and Sarah of Wisconsin. She is also survived by sisters Mary Ellen Miller Nicoll and husband Gordon of Newcastle and Marjory Katherine Miller Walters and husband Ronald Hedley Walters of Norwich, Connecticut. She is also survived by her brother John H. Miller II of Eastport, Maine and Nadi, Fiji Islands. She is also survived by many special, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins including Mary Ella Payne of Jefferson, Frederick G. Payne II of Camden, Robert and Nancy Pagles of Boston, Marion Pagles of Boston, Andrew Leighton of Falmouth Foreside, Katy Leighton Keene of Kennebunkport, Bud Nicoll of Orlando, Thomas Nicoll of Orlando and Jackson Nicoll of Orlando, Florida, Peter Nicoll of Washington,DC, Jonathan Miller of Vernon, Connecticut and Uncles Thomas Leighton and wife Shirley of Falmouth Foreside and Porter Leighton and wife Patricia of Naples and Eastport. Funeral service with Communion will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 7 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Newcastle, Maine. Caroline was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrews and sang in the choir there with her sisters and grandmother. Her brother John was an alter boy there and many generations of the family have been baptized, confirmed, married and remembered there. A reception will follow at the home of her sister Mary Ellen Miller Nicoll on the Mills Road in Newcastle. Caroline requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Andrews Outreach.
