Obituary of Amy C. Gilbert
Amy C. Gilbert, 66, of Yarmouth ME, passed away from cancer on August 18, 2009 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough ME. Amy was born December 30, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA to Bernard M. and Mildred (Baer) Gilbert. She graduated from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA, and the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Hygiene in Philadelphia, PA. She worked in NY as a Dental Hygienist and worked extensively in retail sales in NY, AZ, and ME. She resided in NY for over 30 years. She also resided in Israel for over two years and has lived in ME for the last 10 years. She was a member of the choir of the First Universalist Church of Yarmouth and a member of the Casco Bay Newcomers Club of Yarmouth. She loved art, was an avid scrabble player, and loved to read many different books. Amy is survived by her brother, Lawrence A. Gilbert of Dayton OH; son, Adam D. Tarr; daughter-in-law, Michele (Santagata) Tarr; granddaughters, Mikayla L. Tarr, and Annie E. Tarr of Gray, ME; son, Gary A. Tarr; daughter-in-law, Stephanie (Wegner) Tarr; and granddaughter, Sophia G. Tarr of Phoenix, AZ. Amy was a loving mother, “Nana” and friend. Her grandchildren adored her, and she had numerous, devoted friends who stayed by her side to the end. Amy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held in her honor.
