Obituary of David MacIntosh Evans
David MacIntosh Evans, of Center Lovell, Maine passed away October 2, 2009 at the age of 67. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Evans of Center Lovell and daughter, Christina Elizabeth Evans of Richmond, Vermont. David was pre-deceased by his father, John George Alexander Evans and mother, Lucy Dallinger Burrill; brothers, John George Evans and Dean Alexander Evans; and daughter, Laurie Catherine Evans.
Born in Hagerstown, Maryland in 1942, David was raised primarily in Ruxton and Monkton, Maryland, graduating from Friends School of Baltimore in 1961. He enlisted in the Army in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1965 as an SP5 (E5), serving 33 months active duty in Augsburg, Germany. While in the Army, David fostered a love for teaching, and returned to Baltimore to pursue a career in education. He received an AA degree from Baltimore City Community College, and his BS from Towson State University. David went on to receive his Master of Science from Morgan State University and Master of Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University while teaching at Bel Air High School. A charismatic history teacher, David retired from C. Milton Wright High School in 1999 after 30 years. He and his wife moved to Maine in 2006, where he had spent much time with extended family as a child, and where he and his wife had spent over 30 years summering at their camp on Kezar Lake. David was a lifetime member of the NRA, American Legion, and Lovell Historical Society. A graveside memorial service is planned for Summer of 2010 in Lovell.
