He was born in Waterville on July 18, 1927 son of Alphonse P. Poulin and Emilie Boudreau Poulin. He attended school in Winslow and enlisted in the United States Navy on September 15, 1944 and was honorably discharged in June, 1946. Al felt that “Everybody should make a contribution, and that’s what I’m trying to do…” Al was in love with his wife Barbara and together they lived life to the fullest. They traveled to all of their favorite hiking, biking, walking, climbing, and picnicking spots together. That’s what best friends do. His family was very special to him and he was so very proud of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all that they were accomplishing in their lives. Each one of them credits him for being an amazing and positive influence in his or her life. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 59 years Barbara Dowe Poulin; his sister Millie Dalton and her husband Arnold of New Hampshire; his daughter Cheryl McGilvery and her husband Don of Yarmouth; son Craig Poulin and his wife Tracy of Palermo; daughter Alison Lohman and her husband Fred of Chapel Hill North Carolina; grandchildren Carrie Logan and her husband Scott, Emily Poulin, Justin Lohman, Abbie Ryan and her husband Peter, Christopher Poulin and his wife Amber, Maryssa Lohman and Sarah Hunnewell; great-grandchildren Gabriel Poulin, Ella Ryan, Sebastian Fournier, and Selwyn Logan; longtime special family friend Al Kramer; special cousin Roland Giroux and his wife Dot as well as many nieces, nephews and other cousins.
