Obituary of Ruth B. Woodward

RUTH B. WOODWARD, 84, passed away February 13, 2010 in Belfast. She was born in Belfast February 19, 1925, the daughter of Ernest and Agnes (Blanchard) Burton. Ruth graduated from Crosby High School in Belfast and resided in that City her entire life. She lived at her Lincolnville Avenue home for 65 years. She worked side by side with her husband on several farming operations including hatching egg production and blueberry harvesting. She enjoyed working as Ward 3 election warden for the City of Belfast. Ruth was a member and former treasurer of the Belfast Garden Club and a member and former treasurer of Penobscot Expedition Chapter DAR. She was an active member of the First Church in Belfast and a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Lee Woodward Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Davis and her husband James of Stockton Springs and Tonne Woodward of Belfast; two sons, Lee Woodward Jr and his wife Lorna of Belfast and Ernest Woodward and his wife Natalie of Stockton Springs. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsay, Alex and Makenna. Family and friends are invited to call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 16th at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Church in Belfast with Reverends Kate Winters and Joel Krueger officiating. Spring burial will be at Grove Cemetery in Belfast. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the First Church in Belfast, 8 Court Street, Belfast, ME 04915 or the Waldo County General Hospital, PO Box 287, Belfast, ME 04915.
