Charles R. “Chuck” Dennis, age 64, of Benton, ME, passed away April 2, 2010 due to complications of diabetes and kidney failure. Chuck was born in Waterville on August 8, 1945, graduating from Winslow High School in 1963. He was the son of Maynard and Beverly Dennis. He was married 14 years to Marilyn Dennis. He served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1969. While in the Air Force based in New Mexico, he enjoyed spelunking at the Carlsberg Caverns and had permission to explore parts of the caves that no person had ever explored. During his lifetime Chuck worked for the railroad as a laborer laying track, drove a delivery truck for a food service supplier and for 15 years at Colby College as a steam engineer. He was a member of Siloam Lodge in Fairfield and a member of the Maine Antique Power Association. One of his favorite pastimes was having coffee at various locations in the greater Waterville area. In later years he was a regular at Kennebec Café. Chuck is survived by his devoted wife Marilyn, stepson Joshua Day and his fiancée Jennifer Flannery, stepson Christian Day and his wife Carmel Schettino, two grandchildren, and a cousin, Sally McCulley, of Missouri as well as many, many loving and loyal friends.
