MARTHA G. YATES, 87 of Baileyville, passed away at Calais on May 4th, 2010. She was born in Grand Lake Stream on August 22, 1922, a daughter of Hill Gould and Ada Chambers. She was a lifelong member of the 10-30 Women’s Club and was Fire Chief and volunteer of Grand Lake Stream during the war the years of 1944 and 1945.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Harold “Red” Yates; sister Anna Cataldo. Martha is survived by her daughters, Donna Boomer and husband Phil, Sandra Carver and husband Al; sister Sophie Melanson; grandsons Wayne Simpson, Tracy Carver and wife Debbie, Marc Simpson and wife Karen; great-grandsons Adam Simpson, Lyndon Carver and Robbie Meserve; great-granddaughters Amanda Simpson, Whitney Farrell, Marie Carver, Catharine Simpson; great-great grandsons Austin Gross and Christian; great-great granddaughter Brianna Gross; two great granddaughters of the heart, Desiree Tyrell and Shawna Carver as well as her life-long friend, Louise “Pip” Moore.
