MADELINE G. HOTHAM, 75, was taken into God’s loving care Monday, June 7, 2010 unexpectedly at her home in Thorndike. She was born February 2, 1935 in Guy and Mary Libby. Madeline lived with her beloved grandparents, Grace and Will Libby while attending Unity High School. She helped her grandmother work the telephone switchboard based in Thorndike. After high school she worked for Dr. Hanscome’s medical office in Unity. Madeline’s passions were family, home, gardening, antiques, long walks in the woods and playing with her grandchildren.
Madeline is survived by her long-time partner Jim Bennett; her son Douglas Ward and wife Carol of Chico, TX, daughter Sharon Caldwell and husband Ralph of Stratton; grandchildren, Jeremiah Caldwell and wife Kelley of Farmington, Jessi-Anne Gould of Stratton, Jodie Aaron Caldwell of Stratton, Jason Day, Sara Collins; great-grandchildren, Sydney Mae Caldwell, Faith Anne Gould, Douglas E. Gould, Jerusha-Marie Caldwell, Liberty E. Taylor; several nieces and nephews.
At Madeline’s request, there will be no service. Arrangements under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. On-line condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com
