Obituary of Grace Howard
Mrs. Grace (Richardson) Howard, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Belmont on Saturday July 24, 2010. She was surrounded by family and was comfortable upon the time of her death.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Donald Howard, and 4 children: Wayne Sanborn of Calvin, OK, Linda Merithew of Phoenix, AZ , Allen Sanborn of Blue Hill, ME, and Dawn Howard of Searsmont, ME. She was preceded in death of her son, Donald Sanborn of Abbottstown PA. She leaves several grandchildren, Sharon McKee of Belfast ME, Lori Thole of PA, Nicole Sanborn of CA, Ronald Ciotti of Phoenix AZ, Brandi Howard of Belfast ME, Sarah Higgins of Palmyra, ME, and Jed Sanborn of Blue Hill, ME, along with several great grand children and many close friends.
She was a lifelong resident of Waldo County and enjoyed spending her life there. She was comfortable being in her house and loved working in her garden, creating beautiful flowers which she and her husband would often sit outside and enjoy together. She enjoyed a simple lifestyle spending time with her family and close friends always sharing her incredible sense of humor and her love of laughter. A day’s outing to Bangor, Augusta, or Portland to shop or attend a concert brought her great joy and she had so much life in her until the very end. She was indeed blessed with a full and wonderful life.
To try and sum up 84 years of loving and caring is such an impossible task that to just say she was a loving wife, wonderful mother, and caring grandmother to her entire family is far short of all she meant to each of us. She was always there, to listen, to talk, to help, to laugh and enjoy time with.
She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Out of respect for her wishes, she will be cremated with no formal services, this being handled by Crabiel-Riposta Funeral home of Belfast, ME. Her remains will be handled by family per her final wishes with only family members in attendance. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her behalf to a local charity of your choice.
