Obituary of Marion Rossman Tozier
MARION R. (ROSSMAN) TOZIER, 90 of Belfast, passed away August 3, 2010 at her home in Belfast. She was born November 11, 1919 in Woodward, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Hazel (Thornley) Rossman. Marion graduated Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, DC and went on to finishing school at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She then continued her education at Cornell University, graduating class of 1943. After completing her education, Marion worked for the American Embassy in Paris before she moved back to the Washington DC area. There she worked for MSTS, a highly classified department of the Navy. There she married Douglas I. Tozier Sr. in 1959. They moved to Belfast in 1963 and settled here with their two sons. Marion was involved in the PEO and Daughters of the American Revolution organizations and was active at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Belfast.
Marion was predeceased by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her two sons, Jim Tozier of Hampton, New Hampshire and Douglas I. Tozier Jr. and wife Debbie of Tampa, Florida; her three grandsons, Garrett, Dylan and Aaron Tozier.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, August 8th from 2-4 p.m. at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. A private graveside will be held Monday at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta. Because of Marion’s many years of dialysis and the great care she was given, the family would like to ask in lieu of flowers contributions be made in her memory to The Dialysis Clinic, Waldo County General Hospital, 125 Northport Avenue, Suite 101, Belfast, ME 04915.
