Obituary of Milton J. Volak
Milton J. Volak, 81, passed away Sept. 1, 2010 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born July 6, 1929 in Amesbury, Mass. He proudly served in the Korean war with the United States Coast Guard. He was a successful business man who owned and operated a number of highly regarded retail stores. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in Horticulture in 1956. Civic minded, he devoted much of his time serving with the Kiwanis, School Board and youth Athletic associations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Volak and Mary Jirak, immigrants from Prague Czechoslovakia and brothers Joseph and Frank. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Shirley M. Scott of Newburyport, Massachusetts; his children, Mark and his wife Sandy of North Carolina, Scott and his wife Diedre of Chelmsford, Mass. In addition he is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In retirement he divided his time between Viera, FL and Biddeford Pool, ME. He enjoyed golf, gardening and traveling to Europe.
