Obituary of Arthur W. Richardson

ARTHUR W. RICHARDSON, 75, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 14, 2010 surrounded by his loved ones at his residence in Freedom. He was born December 26, 1934 in Freedom, the son of Ralph and Julia (Thomas) Richardson. He grew up in Freedom and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He made his career as a self-employed woodsman throughout his life and will be remembered for his generosity and selflessness. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Julia Richardson, and two sisters, Lena Richardson and Ethel Richardson. He is survived and greatly missed by his beloved wife of 46 years, Carol Richardson, his brother Robert Richardson and wife Georgia of Freedom, his sister Mildred Richardson of Freedom, his sister Pauline Richards of Albion, and sister Myrtle Irving and husband Kenneth of Clinton; children Gail Richardson and husband Joseph Sr. of Freedom, Susan Friend and partner Kris Thibodeau of Augusta, Gina Ripley of Bath, and Debora Ripley of Carver, Massachusetts; grandchildren Joseph Richardson Jr. and wife Pamela of Freedom, Heidi Richardson and partner Craig Smith of Freedom, Jason Richardson of St. Albans, Adam Page and wife Celina of Pittston, Tara Oxley and husband Fred of China, Arthur Page and partner Erica Albert of Newburyport, Massachusetts, Hannah Richardson of Freedom; great grandchildren Karoleigh and Kaitlin Friend, Norman Richardson, Hope and Laci White, Makayla, Madeline, and Molly Oxley; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will also be dearly missed by his four-legged companion Rose. Special thanks to his cousin Wesley and wife Dot Richardson for their generous gift and to the Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice Nurses and staff for patience with the family and the great care they provided. Also the love and support from family members. A service will be held at the Freedom Congregational Church 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18th followed by a graveside service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery and a gathering at the Freedom Grange Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Kno-Wal-Lin Home Health Care Hospice: 170 Pleasant Street, Rockland Maine, 04841.
