AUDREY L. (OAKES) CARSON, 87 of Knox, passed away on January 2, 2011 in Pittsfield. She was born on January 26, 1924 in Montville, Maine, the daughter of William and Erma (Stewart) Oakes. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #50 of Unity. She enjoyed playing Beano and loved attending church at Brooks Pentecostal Church. Audrey was a loving mother and wife. She was predeceased by her husband in 1994, Kenneth E. Carson and two grandchildren, one sister and four brothers. She is survived by her children, Carol Johnson and partner Skip Philbrick of Brooks, Richard Carson and wife Linda of Winthrop, Gloria Lancaster and husband Roger of Unity, Robert Carson and wife Rojean of California, Shirley Curtis and husband James of Knox, Charles Carson and wife Carol of Montville, Joseph Carson and wife Karen of Knox; a brother, Floyd Oakes and wife Greta and sister Beverly Rollins and husband Gary; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 4-6 p.m. at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
