Obituary of Cheryl Jean Burns

Cheryl Jean (Svec) Burns of Thomaston, ME, born September 23, 1946, died Friday, March 4, 2011 after a lifelong struggle with Diabetes. She worked at the Maine State Prison since she arrived in Maine in fall of 1989, volunteered at the Lobster Festival for many years and was also active in ministry as a member of the Thomaston Baptist Church in Thomaston. She loved movies and had many pets over the years. She also enjoyed attending all the local fairs and community celebrations. The Thomaston 4th of July Celebration was among her favorites. She is predeceased by her parents from Madison, Ohio; Kenneth A Svec and Lillian E (Clugston), (Blackburn) Svec, her husband Franklin Jr. Burns originally from Southern Ohio and later Thomaston and Rockland, grandchildren Ashley Marie Burns and Hayley Chipman of Maine and her sister Sandra Kay Svec from Lima, OH. She is survived by her two sisters Karen Sue Svec of Lima, OH and Marilyn Louise (Svec) Delano “Rusty” and her husband Cedric Perle Delano and their son Jesse Hill of Friendship. Also survived by her daughter Tammy Lynn Burns and Tammy’s children Shannon, Brian, William, Thomas, Tela, Jamie (Nora), her daughter Cathy Ann Burns and Cathy's children Michael, Kayleigh, Shane and Eric, her son Michael Todd and his wife Amie Burns and their child Garret, her son Christopher Franklin and his wife Jennifer Burns and their children Christopher Jr, Caleb, Noah and Graceland, her daughter Heather Marie Burns and Heather's children Nicole, Brandon, Justin and Nathaniel, her son Kenneth James Burns and Kenny's children Kianna, Amber and Tyler and five Great Grandchildren. There will be a memorial service held at Thomaston Baptist Church, 212 Main Street, Thomaston, ME at 1:00 on Saturday, March 12, 2011.
