Obituary of Patricia M. Hanson

PATRICIA M. HANSON, 67, beloved wife of Rev. Stephen E. Hanson, passed from this life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 14, 2011. She left this world surrounded by her husband and family at her home in New Gloucester. Pat was born February 20, 1944 in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of Meylan Marden and Annie Geneva Cobb Marden (Danforth). She attended Belfast area schools and graduated from Crosby High School in 1962. She also attended Faith Bible Institute for 2 ½ years. She and her husband, Steve, served in various ministries and with Village Missions at Burnham, Maine for over ten years and also at Middleton, New Hampshire for eight years. They retired in 2007 and moved to New Gloucester, Maine. Pat was a songwriter and ministered much to many people with her music. She sang her songs, played the piano, guitar and omni-chord in lots of churches and events. She was also a part of a family gospel singing group that included her brother Danny, her sisters Elsie and Edna and her son David. Pat loved to create flower gardens all around her home and do vegetable gardening. She was great at this and also loved to counsel with ladies who were dealing with various spiritual and personal issues. She also played the violin that her brother Danny made for her. She loved life and especially the ministry with Steve and serving other people and their needs. Pat was predeceased by her sister Annette and her mother Annie. She is survived by her loving husband Steve to whom she was married for nearly fifty years, her sons Daniel and his wife Bethany of Lisbon Falls, Darren and his wife Donna and grandchildren Danica and Devin of Durham and David and his wife Sarah and grandchildren Brinley and Amanda of Lisbon; brother-in-law Dana Hanson of Florida; a niece Valerie Henderson and her husband Bob and daughter Jessie of Belfast. Pat leaves several brothers and sisters – her sisters are Elsie Gerry and husband Charlie of Northport, Edna Corcoran and husband Jan of Augusta; five brothers Vic Marden and his wife Beverly of Gales Ferry, CT, Wilbur Marden and his loving companion Patti Forbes of Harrington, Dennis Danforth and his wife Rhonda of Millinocket, Daniel Danforth and his wife Liz of Frankfort and Norman Danforth of Frankfort as well as many nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. March 27th at New Gloucester Bible Church in New Gloucester, Maine with Rev. Dan Michaud officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, 15 Strawberry Avenue, PO Box 819, Lewiston, ME 04243-0819 or to New Gloucester Bible Church, 218 Lewiston Road, New Gloucester, ME 04260.
