Obituary of Vernon A. Gordon
Vernon A. Gordon, 81, died March 15, 2011 at a local hospital. He was born June 6, 1929 in Belfast the son of Vernon and Edna (Robbins) Gordon. He was a mechanic most of his life working on automobiles. He was always fixing something around the house and enjoyed working with his hands. He enjoyed going to Oxford Plains for the car races with his family. He also liked the warmth of Florida and boating. After coming back to Maine, he enjoyed the waterfront and liked “going down” to see what is going on. He is predeceased by his brother, Stanley, and survived by his wife of five years, Elizabeth Gordon, of Searsport; two children, Jamie Tozier, of Waldo and Amy and Jim Ghent, of Belfast. His stepchildren, Berry and Paul Honore, of CT and Trudy and Stephen Estey, of Waldoboro. Three sisters, Ellen Porter, Judy Roberts, Mary Thompson and Nancy Slamin, all of Belfast. A granddaughter, Jordan Ghent. Five step-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 10:30 AM at the Searsport First Congregational Church with Rev. Arlin Larson officiating. Those who wish, may make donations to the Waldo County General Hospital ER Fund. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel – Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast, Maine.
