PAUL V. FRITZE, 63 of Hallowell passed away April 5, 2011 in Augusta. He was born in East Orange, New Jersey on April 20, 1947, the son of Anthony and Josephine (DiGirolamo) Fritze. Paul was a kind, loving husband and father. He was both a talented artist and poet. Paul worked in the mental health field in Augusta for many years. In the mid 1980's he was owner of The Back Door Cafe, a popular music venue in Gardiner where his generous proprietorship formed lasting friendships with many of the area's local musicians. He will be dearly missed. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Anthony Fritze. Paul is survived by his wife of 18 years, Barbara Fritze of Hallowell; his children, Paul Fritze of Farmingdale, Matthew Fritze and wife Juliet Gillespie of Brooklyn, New York, Zoe Fritze-Heath and husband Chris of Saco, Zina Fritze and significant other Sean McQuade of Augusta; three grandchildren, Damien Fritze-Heath, Ares Fritze-Heath and Loki McQuade.
