Theola Althea Baker Doak October 7, 1928- April 13, 2011 Theola went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2011 after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She died in her Belfast home of sixty years, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Frankfort, Maine on October 7, 1928 to Elwyn “Earl” and Doris Baker. She graduated from Winterport High School in 1948. Theola married John in 1949, and together they raised their family and lived in Belfast for sixty –two years. She is survived by her devoted husband, John Doak of Belfast; her two daughters and two grandchildren, Sharon Nickerson and her husband David of Belfast and their son Nathanael Steele, and Sandra Giles and her husband Lowell of Farmingdale, and their daughter Heather Bailey. Theola also has two great grand children, Kaylee Magee and Alex Horn of Farmingdale. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Harriman of Winterport, and two brothers, Earl Baker of Frankfort and Doreal Baker of North New Portland, as well as several nieces and nephews. Theola will be fondly remembered for her hospitality, as well as her dedicated Christian service to her church and her many years of volunteer work at Camp Fair Haven in Brooks. Additionally, she was a devoted grandmother to her own grandchildren, as well as many others kids who needed a grandmother. She was a gifted homemaker who sewed her daughters’ clothing, made beautiful braided rugs, crocheted doilies, knit mittens and had talents too numerous to recount. Theola had a special fondness for flowers and birds. She loved nature and enjoyed camping. Her favorite place to be was at the ocean. In her later years, she was a supporter of the Family & Friends Blue Grass group. A favorite activity was attending their Friday night jams, which she attended until the Alzheimer’s disease prevented her participation. One of her last social events was when the Group came to her house and had a jam in her living room. She was able to smile and keep time with the music, which delighted all in attendance. Family and friends are invited to call from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 16th at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast where funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17th with Pastor Fred Williams officiating.
