Obituary of Laura A. Barr

LAURA A. (YOUNG) PARSONS BARR, 82 of Belfast, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on May 8, 2011. She was born June 3, 1928 in Belfast, the daughter of Charles and Dora (Flanders) Young. Laura was born and brought up in Belfast and attended Crosby High School. She worked in the shoe industry in Belfast and Bangor for many years as well as Mathew Brothers for 30 years. She enjoyed music, especially country and western. She is predeceased by her parents; her brothers Selden, Harold, Charles Jr. and a sister Mildred Johnson. Laura is survived by her loving daughters, Joanne Parsons and Tammy Barr, both of Belfast; her siblings, E. Hope Murray of St. George and Everett “Pete” Young of Swanville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to call from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 11th at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue in Belfast. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 12th, 10 a.m. at Grove Cemetery in Belfast with Pastor Elaine Hughes officiating.
