Obituary of Harvey R. King

Harvey R. King, 69, passed away unexpectedly May 11, 2011 in Searsmont. He was born in Buffalo, NY on August 1, 1941; graduated from Camden High School in 1959 and then enlisted in the United States Army receiving training in aviation electronics. After serving in the military, he attended the University of Maine and graduated in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in History. After graduation, he accepted a position in the Social Studies department at Belfast Area High School where he taught for 31 years and served as department head for several years. Harvey was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an active member of the Waldo County Search and Rescue, holding several officer positions. He was predeceased by his parents Grace and Charles King, his sister Betty Wellman, and his grandson, Michael King. Harvey is survived by his children, Chad King and his wife Wendi of McKinney Texas, Tyler King and his wife Adria of Wiscasset; his five grandchildren, Grace, Ashton, Hannah, Mackenzie, and Jasmine; his significant other, Marilyn Caron of Lincolnville; his aunt, Frances Ludwick, his uncle, James Carleton Sr. and several loving cousins. Funeral services with military honors will be held 5 p.m. Monday, May 16th at Belfast Area High School. Burial will be at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
